Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word; excellent data entry and communication skills; strong attention to detail and effective organization skills; two years of increasingly responsible general clerical experience including one year of accounting clerical experience; Associate’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in accounting or closely related field, or equivalent.
Colleague (Ellucian) experience; community college experience
There are currently two Accounting Technician vacancies in the College’s Office of Business and Finance. Applicants will be considered for both positions, unless an applicant specifies in their application documents that they are only interested in one of the vacancies.
In the first position, the individual certifies Veteran students’ tuition and fees for the purpose of billing the Veteran’s Administration (VA) to obtain payment of these amounts on behalf of Veteran students; maintains technical expertise of military/VA and State regulations to include reviews and updates of changes as they pertain to certification of Veterans; processes federal funding applications and reports; participates in researching complex problems in accounts; advises Veterans on education benefits and services available, as they relate to tuition and fees; reviews and evaluates completeness of files and records and requests information as needed; participates in any type of compliance survey sponsored by the military or VA; responds to requests for information and acts as a liaison to College departments and divisions; assists with reconciling accounts to general ledger; assists with registration when needed; completes ACH uploads to bank for student refunds; performs general accounting duties and prepares reports as assigned.
In the second position, the individual assumes a full range of general cashiering functions; analyzes student account information and participates in researching complex issues related to payment records; interprets and explains College policies and procedures relating to registration and student refunds; processes account adjustments and refunds for both curriculum and non-curriculum classes; performs general accounting duties and prepares reports as assigned.
