Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent and a North Carolina Electrical License with at least five years of work experience is required. Must be able to teach on the main campus of Wayne Community College. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, excellent oral and written communication skills, being a self-starter and team player, and the ability to work collaboratively with others are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical training or an electrical degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred. Familiarity with the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum and certifications are preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish and experience working with a diverse population is preferred.

Position Description

The electrical instructor is responsible for teaching a basic residential wiring course. The course is designed to provide training in the electrical trade that will give students the proper course work in safety, code, equipment, and knowledge of the trade. The Instruction should include fundamentals of electricity, power distribution, mathematics, national code requirements for commercial and industrial, and residential wiring requirements. The Instructor will develop, update, and implement curriculum and educational materials and methods used to advance learning in the classroom. The Instructor will organize and maintain class areas, including physical facilities, equipment, inventory, and materials in a clean, neat operating condition. Must maintain accurate class attendance records and submit reports and administrative paperwork in a timely manner.
