Master’s in physics or closely related field plus 18 graduate hours in physics. A willingness to implement strategies for engaging online learners.
Online course development and teaching experience or strong technology skills preferred. Experience with Moodle a plus.
Responsible for developing PHY 251: General Physics I for online delivery. This course uses calculus-based mathematical models to introduce the fundamental concepts that describe the physical world. Topics include units and measurement, vector operations, linear kinematics and dynamics, energy, power, momentum, rotational mechanics, periodic motion, fluid mechanics, and heat. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles involved and display analytical problem-solving ability for the topics covered.
Also responsible for providing effective online instruction consistent with established objectives and a variety of teaching methods. Will facilitate online learning and monitor and evaluate student performance. Will keep accurate records in the Learning Management System gradebook and maintain accurate attendance.
