Minimum Qualifications

1. High School Graduate;
2. Three years of experience in either technical, industrial, or manufacturing operations, engineering or technical design, equipment maintenance, or continuous improvement in a business setting;
3. Training experience in either technical or maintenance operations, manufacturing, engineering, safety, automation, or continuous improvement;
4. Hands-on, design, or project management experience in engineering, maintenance, equipment setup and repair, electronics, mechanical components, computer-integrated machinery, automation, and systems integration;
5. Computer proficiency in desktop office applications;
6. Experience or certifications that demonstrate proficiency in all safety categories and OSHA regulations;
7. Willingness to gain certifications as required in subjects (see list of preferred requirements) that may be taught in Advanced Manufacturing programs.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field;
2. Experience or training in CNC and manual machining operations;
3. Programming, setup, and maintenance of PLCs;
4. Experience with equipment automation and systems integration;
5. Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP);
6. Certified Safety Professional (CSP);
7. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM);
8. Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) in 610, 620, & J-Standard;
9. Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt;
10. OSHA certifications, such as OSHA 10 and OSHA 30;
11. First Aid, CPR, & AED Instructor Certification;
12. Electrical Journeyman card or license;
13. Hazwoper 40 Hour certification;
14. Siemens Automation Educator;
15. Universal Refrigeration License;
16. North Carolina Manager of Environmental Safety & Health Programs (MESH).

Position Description

Job Description Summary

Serves as the Instructor for Advanced Manufacturing programs working under direction of the Director of Economic Workforce Development and the Advanced Manufacturing Programs Coordinator. Provides instruction for open enrollment programs in Advanced Manufacturing, training to local businesses and industries through the Customized Training Program, instruction at the Craggy Correctional facility, and for other Workforce Programs as available. Participates with internal and external partners to develop and deliver training that meets local workforce needs.

Duties

Instructor for Advanced Manufacturing Programs working under direction of the Director of Economic Workforce Development and the Advanced Manufacturing Programs Coordinator:
• Provides instruction for open enrollment and self-supporting programs in Advanced Manufacturing, training to local businesses and industries through the Customized Training Program, instruction at the Craggy Correctional facility, and for other Workforce Programs as available (target instructional load = 70%)
• Demonstrates initiative in assisting the marketing efforts for open enrollment and self-supporting classes
• Demonstrates flexibility in providing instruction in all programs as directed by the department Coordinators and Director

As class and instructional loads allow, collaborates with internal and external partners to assist in the development of training programs, and works closely with the Advanced Manufacturing Programs Coordinator, the Customized Training Coordinator, and the Director of Economic & Workforce Development to:
• Serve as a subject matter expert for new and existing program development
• Participate in developing and implementing course objectives and lesson plans
• Participate in developing curricula
• Participate and advise in the selection and scheduling of adjunct instruction

The Instructor for Advanced Manufacturing Programs participates with the Director of Economic & Workforce Development in connecting with local industry partners to determine training needs, and participates in then developing and delivering training that meets those needs. Participates with others in showcasing the training capabilities of the Advanced Manufacturing Center, and contributes to meeting department, division, and college strategic goals.
