Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to correctly perform all responsibilities related to classroom management and student assistance
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work positively and cooperatively in an educational setting
  • Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • An earned AAS degree or higher in a discipline taught within the School of Applied Science and Technology
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience working in an educational setting
  • Evidence of teaching experience with high school-age populations
  • Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments

Position Description

  • Reinforce classroom lecture concepts by tutoring individual students or holding discussion groups.
  • Circulate throughout classroom to answer questions or explain concepts.
  • Monitor classroom environment for student adherence to classroom policies. 
  • Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
  • Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College’s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instructional support services
  • Perform other duties as signed by the immediate supervisor, the dean, or the Vice President of Academic Affairs
