Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree* from a regionally accredited college or university 
  • Experience in recruiting and coaching high school or college athletics
  • Excellent computer skills in programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Access 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exemplary organizational and customer service skills with commitment to the holistic development of the individual
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment without close supervision
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Understanding of the community college mission and higher education in general as it relates to academic performance
  • Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:
    -       Translating College purpose, values, and vision into organizational action
    -       Collaborating and facilitating with college personnel and community agencies and organizations
    -       Creating and innovating

Position Description

The Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Women’s Volleyball coach with planning, managing, coordinating, operating, and evaluating the Division III Women’s Volleyball program at the College. This position reports to the Director, Student Athletics and Wellness with direction from the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach. The Assistant Coach is expected to adhere to the responsibilities of competitive success, maintain compliance of the rules and regulations within the parameters of the NJCAA, and the development of student athletes into engaged citizens using a holistic approach. This is a stipend-funded, part-time position.

Responsibilities:

Primary Duties– May include, but not limited to the following: 

  1. Assist the Head Coach in managing and directing the Volleyball program.  
  2. Assist the Head Volleyball Coach with all aspects of the team including training, completing and scheduling. 
  3. Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all policies, rules and regulations set forth for the team by the college and the NJCAA.  
  4. Check and secure all office, storage room, outside doors, locker rooms after games and practices.  
  5. Complete and maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.  
  6. Assist in teaching student athletes conflict resolution, time management and other life skills.  
  7. Use the administrative and reporting structure of the college to manage athletes.  
  8. Assists the Director, Student Activities and Wellness with alumni relations and fundraising.  
  9. Assist with recruiting potential players and scouting opponents as directed.
  10. Plan and direct athletic skill development for student-athletes. 
  11.  In coordination with the Head Volleyball Coach and Director, Student Athletics and Wellness, assist in monitoring student-athlete academic performance and implement team, athletic department, and College resources to support the athlete’s academic performance.
  12. Perform other tasks as assigned that support the mission and initiatives of the Women’s Volleyball program and the college.

ADA Summary:

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment in the collection, evaluation and analysis of data and student assessment, curriculum development, and program review; ease of mobility in supervising students in the clinical and classroom settings, assisting with patient care, carrying equipment, supplies and other instructional materials; travel between campus and clinical locations may be required; and effective use of all forms of communication including use of computers.

Salary Range: 

$1,500 paid by stipend
