Minimum Qualifications
A Master’s degree or higher in Biology from a regionally accredited institution or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in biology is required. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. A valid North Carolina driver’s license with a driving record sufficient to be insured under the Wayne Community College auto policy is required.
Preferred Qualifications
One to three years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level and experience in teaching online courses is preferred. Bilingual is preferred.
Position Description
The Biology instructor is responsible for teaching an average of 15-22 contact hours per semester. Instructional duties include teaching day and evening as well as online courses in the general biology, as well as related courses. Laboratory responsibilities include instruction, facility supervision, ordering supplies, laboratory preparation and maintenance. Additional duties include advising students, serving on committees, and participation in faculty meetings, convocation, graduation and recruitment activities. Participation in student recruitment and retention, including College-wide marketing initiatives is required.
