Master’s Degree is required from a regionally accredited college or university in an academic area appropriate to Pamlico Community College course offerings.
Four years of experience working in an educational environment required. Prior experience in budgeting and planning required. Strong writing and communication skills required. Familiarity with operation of computer software programs required. Experience with Datatel/Colleague preferred. Must be able to work effectively one-on-one with individuals, state and federal organizations. Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well in a team setting.
Experience in Occupational Extension, Workforce Development, Customized Training and/or Life Long Learning with a college or university preferred. Career Readiness Certification preferred. Preferred training/certificates in continuing education.
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Instructional Services, the Chair is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and overseeing continuing education programs, including Basic Skills and Cultural Enrichment, in collaboration with the instructional services leadership team. The Chair works with colleagues to provide college leadership for expanding evening and weekend program offerings. These functions include fostering a supportive and productive relationship among all departments to capitalize on the strength of each faculty and staff member. The Chair will work with various community leaders to ensure that the continuing education programs are meeting the needs of the community as well as local employers. The Chair hires, supervises and evaluates instructors and staff members, and manages the department budget. This position requires occasional evening and weekend duties.
Oversee the operation of Continuing Education Basic Skills & Cultural Enrichment programs: provide orientation for faculty to include record keeping, state and college policies, grading and attendance & development of course syllabi. Assist in planning for research and development related to continuing education programs. Coordinate instructional development activities, including revisions and annual program reviews. Ensure that all paperwork for all continuing education programs (registration forms, rosters, attendance sheets, instructor contracts, etc.) are completed and turned into the Coordinator of Continuing Education Programs. Procure and manage grants or other revenue sources when appropriate. Develop complete schedules for Fall, Spring and Summer semesters for Continuing Education programs.
Oversee and coordinate the program review process for all continuing education programs, including but not limited to coordination of advisory committee meetings, collection and dissemination of pertinent data related to review process, assisting faculty in coordinating responses to review data, and development of program review reports for VP approval. Maintain liaison with state colleges, universities and other community colleges on matters relating to instruction, articulation and transfer programs. Instruct an average of 6-9 contact hours/week each semester. Other duties as assigned.
