Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in English, Communications or Humanities or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in English, Communications or Humanities from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years evidence of successful higher education teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting, that includes demonstrated experience with curriculum design and evaluation and effective use of methods and technology to facilitate education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous communitycollege teachingexperience preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree or 18 graduate semester hours in Rhetoric and Composition.

POSITION

Chair of English, Communications, & Humanities - Full-time (12-month)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Serving as an administrative and academic officer, the Chair, English, Communications and Humanities assists with the development and administration of the Liberal Arts and University Transfer department, including instructional vision, leadership, management and support for adjunct and curricula in support of College goals and objectives. In collaboration with other chairs and deans, ensures efficiency in scheduling, student learning outcomes assessment, and curricular and programmatic initiatives. The Chair, fosters a high-quality environment of academic teaching and intellectual achievement, and creates and strengthens partnerships within and outside of the College. The Chair, teaches one (1) course per fall/spring semester or as needed in an instructional area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in English, Communications or Humanities or a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in English, Communications or Humanities from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years evidence of successful higher education teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting, that includes demonstrated experience with curriculum design and evaluation and effective use of methods and technology to facilitate education
  • Previous community college teaching experience preferred.
