Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, or closely related field, with two years progressive experience in an adult education setting, AND
  • Possession  of working knowledge of College and Career Readiness programs, policies, processes, and procedures, AND
  • Minimum 2 years work experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrate the leadership and management skills necessary to meet or exceed federal and state performance measures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of documents and information.
  • Possess strong team building skills and experience.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills.
  • Maintain proficiency in technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Five years progressive experience in an adult education setting

Position Description

2 Positions Available
Harnett County (Base Location: Harnett Main Campus)
Chatham County (Base Location: Siler City Center)

The coordinator is responsible for the oversight of College and Career Readiness' three programs: Adult Basic Education (ABE), Adult Secondary Education (ASE), and English Language Acquisition (ESL)   

  • Possess working knowledge of College and Career Readiness programs, polices, processes, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate the leadership and management necessary to meet or exceed federal and state performance measures.
  • Hire and evaluate faculty and staff.
  • Check and submit end-of-course paperwork and timesheets.
  • Prepare class schedules and faculty contracts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely collection and reporting of data.
  • Establish and maintain efficient staffing and course management processes.
  • Establish and maintain good community rapport.
  • Promote literacy education throughout the community.
  •  Initiate efforts to create and expand programs to emerging populations and new markets.
  • Support and monitor the performance of instructors.
  • Lead faculty and staff in professional development.
  • Serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Complete the annual five-hour staff development requirement.
  • Submit records and forms in a timely fashion as outlined in the policy and procedures manual.
  • Encourage and support College activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
