A Master's degree in English or Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in English, technical writing, or another related discipline is required. Oral and written communications skills are also required.
Community college or post-secondary teaching experience is preferred but not required. Online teaching experience is also preferred but not required.
The Curriculum English instructor is responsible for teaching an average of 18-20 hours per semester. Instructional duties include teaching day and/or evening courses in freshman writing and inquiry, writing and research in the disciplines, and sophomore literature courses. Responsibilities include on-site instruction on campus, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and/or at Wayne School of Engineering, and/or online instruction. Duties includes course development where applicable, timely submission of reports, participation on assigned committees, and participation in committee textbook selection. Duties also include service as a college transfer student advisor, participation in required special events including faculty meetings, orientation, and graduation. Recruitment activities, participation in college planning processes, and adherence to achieving learning outcomes responsibilities are included.
