Associate degree in Fire Protection or related field required. A minimum of four years of experience in fire/rescue services and Level II Fire/Rescue Instructor Certification required.
Batchelor's degree in Fire Protection or related field preferred.
Develops courses, certification programs, and other educational programs designed to meet the training needs of volunteer and career firefighters; oversees Health and Emergency Service Programs ensuring compliance with governing agencies, responsiveness to community needs and additional offerings, providing quality programs; hires instructors, schedules courses, and provides publicity for courses and programs; recruits and counsels students; develops course syllabi, outlines, and lesson plans for courses assigned and assists instructors with lesson plans, course outlines, and required records; teaches courses as needed, compiles various reports and processes, necessary forms, and documents to support program efforts; orders instructional materials and supplies; maintains communication with local volunteer and paid fire/rescue agencies; coordinates and oversees the Firefighter Cadet Academy and the Wilson Area Fire and Rescue School; audits classes and assures they meet standards of the College, the NC Community College System, accrediting agencies, and the NC Office of State Fire Marshall; establishes a training schedule and develops contracts for fire/rescue departments and companies that desire training; provides and projects budget information, attends Wilson County Fire Association meetings; serves on institutional committees as appointed; performs other duties as assigned.
