Minimum Qualifications

- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Early Childhood Education
- Demonstrate excellent oral & written communication skills
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
- Possess an understanding of student success as it relates to community college students
- Proficient in using technology for effective on line course delivery

Preferred Qualifications

- Teaching experience at the community college level
- Experience with classroom technology
- Experience with outcome assessment
- Strong academic advising experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Moodle, Colleague, and internet

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under limited supervision, Early Childhood Education faculty will be responsible for providing effective instruction which demonstrates a working knowledge of the early childhood education field and shows evidence of careful planning and adherence to course descriptions, program and course competencies and requirements. Faculty will be responsible for student recruitment and retention; competency based course development, instruction, and evaluation/revision, classroom management, aid in review and/or adoption of textbooks, assessing the equipment/supplies needed and/or required within the classroom/laboratory, conducting student assessment/progress for achieving course and competency requirements in both theory and practice, assisting with organizing advisory board meetings, and development of syllabi adhering to the Community College System and BCC standards/ guidelines and policies/ procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Early Childhood Education courses and their associated labs using a variety of instructional delivery methods
- Observe practicum students placed in local early care and education settings, providing oral and written feedback as appropriate
- Provide academic advising and serve as a resource to students outside of class time, as well as serve as a resource to other faculty
- Serve on program advisory committee and provide program evaluation
- Attend and participate in college related functions as required such as recruitment activities, orientations, program meetings, staff development, committees, and workshops
- Some travel and evening work is required
