Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in developmental education, adult education, higher education or related field.

Knowledge and understanding of the role of educational opportunities programs in the community college mission. Report writing and academic outcomes data analysis skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Management experience in adult education, developmental education, or literacy education preferred. Community college experience preferred.

Position Description

Statement of Primary Purpose

Provide leadership for the College’s educational opportunities programs

Classification

Full-time Exempt Staff, Program Administrator

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Lead and manage educational opportunities programs including:

• Adult Education/Literacy

• Adult High School

• High School Equivalency

• Developmental Education

• English Language Acquisition

• Human Resources Development

• Project Search

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage programs including maintaining records and contracts, administering budgets, recruiting and supervising instructors, developing schedules, promoting programs, and submitting federal and state reports.

• Teach at least one class or student orientation each semester.

• Provide academic advising for educational opportunities students.

• Collaborate with testing coordinator to offer placement test preparation and ensure accurate placement of students in developmental and first-semester college-credit English and math classes.

• Supervise program coordinators and staff.

• Coordinate staff development activities.

• Oversee high school equivalency testing.

• Develop additional resources for educational opportunities programs including researching, writing, and managing grants and establishing community partnerships.

• Facilitate collaboration and communication among educational opportunities programs.

• Integrate academic support services including labs, testing, and individual assistance/tutoring with instructional offerings.

• Promote student recruitment, retention, and completion in educational opportunities programs.

• Promote student progression from educational opportunities to college-credit programs.

• Work with public information staff to develop marketing materials and maintain web pages for educational opportunities programs.

• Supervise curriculum development and review.

• Ensure appropriate resources for program and course delivery.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, community college system personnel, and community partners.

Working Conditions and Environment

Travel throughout the college service area. Attend regional and state meetings. Supervise day, evening and weekend classes.
