Minimum Qualifications

1. Associate degree in EMS or directly related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
2. Valid NC Paramedic Credential.
3. Valid NC Level One Paramedic Instructor.
4. Three years of relevant field experience or closely related career field.
5. Instructor-ship for at least two of the following AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS and be available to obtain others within one year of hire.
6. Valid NC Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in EMS or directly related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
2. NC Level II Paramedic Instructor.
3. Nationally Registered Paramedic.
4. Five years of relevant field experience in EMS or closely related field.
5. Post-secondary teaching experience.

Position Description

The Instructor will be responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. The Instructor will be responsible for quality instruction and effective participation and interest in the College’s affairs related to the Emergency Medical (EM) Program directives. This position will also work to maintain program compliance with accreditation standards according to Surry Community College, NCOEMS, and CoAEMSP. This position reports directly to the EMS Program Director, who provides oversight of all EM Programs.

This is a 12 month position.
