Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), and five (5) years of experience in facilities maintenance activities; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties.

Licensing Requirements: Lead positions require EPA Refrigerant Certification, State Technician’s Certification, Electrician’s License, Plumber’s License, HVAC State Certification, General Contractor license.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of: Applicable system maintenance, repair and installation principles and methods; Equipment operating and maintenance techniques; Construction and maintenance principles; Record keeping principles; Safety procedures; Computers and related software applications.

Skill in: Building, repairing, and maintaining facility structures; Identifying and repairing/replacing unsafe equipment; Maintaining records and logs; Using a computer and related software applications; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Position Description

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is seeking 2 full-time Facility Services Lead Technicians who will perform skilled maintenance, repair and construction of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, and building structures. Responsibilities will include coordinating efforts with contractors and clients for small projects including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, fire alarms, security systems; planning for supplies and equipment; installing, maintaining and repairing HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment; constructing walls, buildings, cabinets, bookcases or similar items; operating light equipment and performing preventive maintenance; and maintaining records of activities.
