A Master's degree in a foreign language – preferably Spanish or French – or a Master's degree plus 18 graduate semester hours in a foreign language.
Community college or post-secondary teaching experience preferred. Online teaching experience preferred, but not necessary.
The Foreign Language instructor is responsible for teaching an average of 18 hours of foreign language classes per semester. Instructional duties include teaching day and evening courses that range from basic to advanced levels of foreign language. Site classes meet on the main campus and at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. The college also offers online courses in advanced levels of foreign language. Responsibilities include on-site and online instruction, course development where applicable, and computer lab supervision. Duties include college transfer student advising, timely submission of reports, participation in assigned committees, and participation in committee textbook selection. Responsibilities also include service in the College Transfer Academic Advising Center and participation in required special events including faculty meetings, orientation, and graduation. Additional responsibilities include recruitment activities, participation in planning processes, and adherence to achieving learning outcomes.
