Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the general supervision of the Foundational Studies Director, the applicant must demonstrate mastery of basic education competencies that prepare students for the high-school equivalency examinations. Instruction will be contextualized for adults who have exited the public school system prior to graduating and who are seeking educational advancement and employment that leads to family sustaining wages. Courses will include written and verbal communication, English language acquisition, mathematics, social studies, science, employability and life skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching: Instruction of Adult Basic Education, High School Equivalency and Adult High School classes approximately 20 hours per week.
Instructional Leader: Providing guidance and oversight to a team of teachers holding classes at four locations. In this role the lead instructor will oversee curriculum, model and create lessons with team members, manage online repository of lessons which specifically address the North Carolina content standards and incorporates career pathway contextualization. Responsibility includes the drafting of policy and process guideline to align with the local and state directives for continual program improvement.
Student Support: This responsibility includes, but is not limited to, transcript evaluations, developing effective career pathway counseling practices with colleagues and connecting students to training and educational opportunities along with co-sponsoring student honor society.
Professional Development: Pursue continual personal professional development and coordinate continual professional development of teammates with the program director.
Collaboration with Program Director: This responsibility will involves the coordination of responsibilities, task, and new initiatives with the director in terms of student assessments, community relations, scheduling, teacher in-services, record keeping and other activities as directed or cited in this job description.
