Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Journalism, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field AND four years’ experience in performing professional-level work in the field of activity OR an equivalent combination of education and qualifying professional experience that would provide the skills, knowledge, and ability needed to fulfill the duties assigned to the position
  • Demonstrated experience in broadcasting
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, strategize, implement and deliver programs and activities that result in positive and financially supportive relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Broadcasting, Journalism, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field AND two years of experience in performing professional-level work in the field of activity
  • Public radio experience
  • Experience utilizing membership database software (Allegiance) and listener database (Arbitron)
  • General understanding of higher education organizational structure and policies/procedures

POSITION

General Manager-Public Radio East Networks/Executive Director/PRE Foundation

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Public Radio East (PRE) General Manager is responsible for the administrative, resource management, finance, supervisory and professional work in planning, operating and maintaining the PRE Radio Networks.  She/he is also directly responsible for the oversight of Public Radio East according to federal, state and industry mandated requirements and all special licenses; as well as all staff and volunteers.  This position will also coordinate and provide administrative support for the PRE Foundation Board, Committees and Committee Chairs; serve as an ex-officio member of the PRE Foundation Board.  This position reports directly to the Vice President for Administration.

SALARY/BENEFITS

  • Hiring range: $74,000 - $84,000
  • Benefits include paid holidays, annual and sick leave, medical insurance, and participation in the N.C. State Retirement System.
