Blue Ridge Community College is currently seeking applications for a Grounds keeper. This position is responsible for maintaining campus grounds/gardens and all outside spaces stay in good condition, both horticultural and aesthetically. Education: High school diploma required, Associates Degree in Horticulture preferred.

Experience: All persons must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or environment.

Within the first year of employment, the employee must acquire an NC Certified Plants man certification and Pesticide License in categories- L, and aquatic. Must have or be eligible to attain a fork-truck certification.

Knowledge and Skills: Valid driver’s license. Possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to safety. Basics using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, College email and website, web-based computer applications associated with the position.

Experience in grounds upkeep, able to prioritize work tasks, able to solve problems, able to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Maintain the technical competencies necessary to the job function.

Physical Demands: The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines. This position does work outdoors in inclement weather.
