Education Minimum
Associate's degree in Horticulture or related field.
 
 Experience Minimum
Three to five years of experience in a green industry environment and a thorough knowledge of horticultural practices.

Position Description

Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to perform horticultural and grounds maintenance at Johnston Community College. Position is Open until filled.

KNOWLEDGE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains all public gardens and campus landscapes.
  • Uses integrated pest management to control unwanted pest.
  • Installs and maintains plant materials.
  • Installs and maintains annual planters located around campus.
  • Coordinates volunteer opportunities with local organizations who show interest in gardening.
  • Maintains greenhouse facility and inventory through plant propagation, division, and planting.
  • Maintains lawns and wooded areas.
  • Must be able to work independently and or with little supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
