Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in related area.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in providing customer service.
  • Proficiency in a variety of software programs, including Office 365.
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently, problem-solve with strong attention to details.
  • Proven track record of maintaining employee confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or PHR/SHRM certification.
  • Two years of experience in a human resource related position.
  • Work experience in a community college personnel office environment.
  • Team management skills.
  • Familiarity with full cycle recruiting.
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague and applicant tracking systems, i.e. NEOGOV.

Position Description

The Human Resource Specialist assists the Senior Director of Human Resources, employees, and prospective employees by performing administrative duties related to personnel functions and programs. The HR Specialist will be responsible for the full life cycle of the recruitment and separation process for employees; including recruitment, benefit administration, and employee relations. The HR Specialist will provide information and assistance to employees, supervisors and the public regarding human resources activities, processes, policies, and procedures. The HR Specialist will perform various activities related to HR, maintain confidential employment records and confidentiality. 

RESPONSIBILITES:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all customers and staff.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and implement all phases of the recruitment process by generating/modifying current and new requests from hiring managers through the college’s online recruiting system.
  • Coordinate and assist employees with completion of the onboarding processes; including working with payroll to facilitate the hiring process.
  • Coordinate and assist employees with employee benefit administration, including ACA reporting and annual open enrollment.
  • Maintain all personnel records and files in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of personnel information, both internally and externally.
  • Process employee promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, and separations.  
  • Manage worker’s compensation, employee leave and FMLA processing and reporting.
  • Utilize the College Information System (CIS) to facilitate HR/Personnel related processes and reporting.
  • Maintain organizational charts and HR policies.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees regarding policies, programs, regulations, issues, benefit options, etc.
  • Maintain the HR succession planning guide.
  • Review and evaluate employment policies, practices, procedures and programs.
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support to the Senior Director of Human Resources.
  • May provide training and/or information programs to groups of employees.
  • May investigate and provide guidance on the resolution of grievances, complaints, and/or employee relation issues.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees regarding policies, programs, regulations, issues, benefit options, etc.
  • Maintain the HR succession planning guide.
  • Review and evaluate employment policies, practices, procedures and programs.
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support to the Senior Director of Human Resources.
  • May provide training and/or information programs to groups of employees.
