Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to meet State and Federal reporting, compliance mandates and performance measures and deadlines

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite 

Ability to apply and utilize technology for education and the workplace (i.e. College Data Management Systems, attendance system, time and effort reporting and electronic survey tools)

Ability to develop original lesson plans that incorporate contextualized instruction or real-life authentic materials

Ability to be flexible, quickly adapt to changes in systems and procedures, take changes in stride, and remain calm under pressure

Detail oriented and highly organized

Demonstrate higher level thinking skills and judgment in order to analyze a situation, trouble shoot problems, make decisions and strategically plan how to meet division goals

Ability to  take initiative and  be self- directed, and able to multi-task

Excellent communication skills, including oral and written and listening skills

Ability to analyze data and write reports

Available to work a flexible schedule, as needed, including day and evening hours

Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree

Two years of classroom teaching experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), English as a Foreign Language (EFL), Expanding Reading Vocabulary (ERV) and/or teaching English abroad

Two years of supervisory experience or experience in a leadership role

English as a Second Language Certificate

Preferences:

Experience with English as a Second Language intake procedures in a community college setting

Degree in English as a Second Language

Experience developing college and career readiness skills and assisting students in transitioning to college and/or the workplace

Position Description

*Recruits, registers students and administers placement testing, and coordinates the intake process for new and returning students

*Provides direct instruction on an interim or substitute basis

*Participates in recruiting, interviewing and hiring part-time and full-time faculty and staff

*Observes, evaluates, supervises and supports annual and part-time instructors at assigned classes, to include team building, instructional support, management of electronic contracts, curriculum development, reporting and clear communication with staff

Develops partnerships between divisions within the College to encourage student retention and transition in CCR and other Academic or Career/Vocational classes, HRD, Continuing Education or Curriculum classes 

Participates in the development of curriculum for the ESL program 

Works collaboratively to address student and faculty issues

Plans and delivers internal and external professional development training

Generates and approves requests for resources and travel expenditures; also review and approve professional development requests, annual leave requests, and travel using appropriate budget codes

Manages the relevant paperwork of CCR classes in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner

Participates in short and long range planning for the ESL and CCR program

Coordinates the delivery and maintenance of supplies and equipment at various sites

Provides information to students about CCR programs and refer to the Student Relations and Transitional Services Team as appropriate

Communicates effectively with Directors, Dean, colleagues, and staff on an on-going basis

Promotes continuous improvement by completing an annual applied benchmark project on an individual or a group basis
