Minimum Qualifications

Current Commercial Drivers License Class A as well as an Instructor’s License. High School Diploma required. Must possess a working knowledge of FMCA rules and requirements as well as the NC DMV and DOT rules.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to operate a variety of office and audio-visual equipment including computer, audio-visual equipment, as well as mechanic’s tools etc. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Position Description

Under limited supervision, instructs students in the Federally regulated Commercial Driver License Training. Reports to the CDL Coordinator and the Dean of CIT.

Performs various administrative duties in support of the CDL program. Such duties would include ordering equipment and supplies, maintaining the equipment and supplies. 

Instructs students by preparing lesson plans, handouts and test; gathering resources for class; setting up recruitment prospects. Submits hours and progress of students to the FMCA as required. 

Performs various student related duties including recruiting students, advising students and assisting students in any way which leads to success. 

Oversees and supervises the work of the students. Performs supervisory duties to maintain the hours and skills necessary to obtain the CDL license. 

Participates in professional organizations and activities to keep abreast of the newest laws and rulings within NC DMV or DOT.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Maintains good working relationships and communicates information within the Department and with all departments/divisions on campus.  

Responds to phone calls, providing information and answering inquiries as appropriate.

Performs other duties as required.
