Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent oral, written, and listening skills
Native like fluency in English
Self-directed, organized, task-oriented, detail-oriented and flexible
Ability to relate, collaborate and communicate well with individuals from all socio-economic levels and ethnic groups with respect and sensitivity
Ability to develop original lesson plans and curriculum that incorporate contextualized instruction and real-life/authentic materials for College & Career Readiness students
Ability to demonstrate a variety of instructional techniques and methods
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, particularly
Excel
Maintain appropriate certifications to be able to administer tests
Knowledge and ability to utilize technology into the classroom including the use of blogs, spreadsheets, computer based or online teaching, PowerPoint, and internet based activities
Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive and accurate knowledge of their field or discipline
Ability to display an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or discipline and then translate their subject matter to related fields
Available to work a flexible schedule, as needed, including day and night hours
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
One year of classroom teaching experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), English as a Foreign Language (EFL), English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) or Expanded Reading and Vocabulary (ERV)
Preferred Qualifications
Preferences:
Teaching experience incorporating into the classroom technology such as MS PowerPoint, LCD projectors, and internet based activities
Position Description
*Establishes and executes meaningful learning objectives
*Plans, organizes and provides instruction using level specific materials and methodologies to maximize student learning
*Adjusts instructional strategies, when needed, to meet diverse student needs
*Creates and maintains a system to track, analyze and maintain all required documentation (attendance, testing results, outcomes, releases, etc) in student files and meets all submission deadlines and requirements as specified by Supervisor, WTCC, National Reporting Service and state and federal funding
*Collaborates with Instructional Program Specialists and College & Career Readiness Counselor in identifying students within the target population of career and college readiness. This includes developing communication processes for sharing student progress and changes in students' goals
Develops curriculum as needed
Learns and implements technology to enhance instruction
Administers tests, documents and analyzes results in a timely manner
Manages goal documentation for registered students
Collects data and tracks students as they move from ESL and GED into curriculum and other program areas to ensure a successful transition to post- secondary
Contributes to the selection and development of instructional materials aligned with course objectives
Functions as a mentor to new instructors
Contacts students through email, phone calls and direct mail to ensure retention in program
Meets paperwork deadlines
Participates in scheduled In-Service training, staff meetings and professional development trainings and activities. Provides professional development training to staff
Provides input on programmatic changes and serves on College committees, as appropriate
