Minimum Qualifications

Educational & Certification Requirements:

Minimum requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services discipline such as counseling, psychology, social work or marriage and family therapy from a regionally accredited college/university.
-A current substance abuse certification such as Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) or Master Addiction Counselor (MAC)
-Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) certification or eligibility to attain it within 3 months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Professional Experience:

Minimum requirements:
- Three years of recent experience in a human services practice setting and/or as an instructor in human services.
- Post-secondary teaching or industry training experience in human services, conducting  training sessions or conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars (e.g. substance abuse, mental health).

Position Description

Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, developing curriculum courses, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field.  He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college. 

Under general supervision, this individual will develop, prepare, and teach Human Services Technology courses within the department as well as being responsible for organization, administration, continuous review, planning development, and general effectiveness of work based learning experiences for students enrolled in the Human Services Technology program. Instructional responsibilities require a broad-based knowledge of the human services field of study and human services in the health/mental health and substance abuse industry. Faculty will also be responsible for advising and recruiting students and collaborating with business and industry partners to provide necessary training and education. The individual must meet the certification and credentialing requirements to function in the Human Services Technology Program and must meet the requirements of the NCCSAPPB to provide clinical supervision to substance abuse students registered with the board. The full time Human Services Technology instructor participates in the implementation, planning evaluation and revision of the program curriculum. The faculty member participates in activities that support institutional goals.
