Minimum Qualifications

 -An Associate’s Degree in business or marine-related field or equivalent job experience, and;
 -a minimum of 5 years marine captains experience in either military or civilian setting, and;
 -prior teaching or training experience, and;
 -Possess and maintain US Coast Guard (USCG) licenses required to teach OUPV, Upgrade to 100 ton, Upgrade to 200 ton and towing assistance courses.
The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills, and be proficient with email correspondence.  The candidate must have basic knowledge of WORD and EXCEL

Position Description

Carteret Community College is pleased to advertise a position for a Full time Marine Programs Coordinator.  The ideal candidate will administer, promote, and provide lead instruction for the Marine Captains Program.   Classes include OUPV, Upgrade to 100 Ton, Upgrade to 200 Ton and Assistance Towing and other related training programs as approved by the US Coast Guard (USCG) and maritime industry. Evening work is required, and some travel may be required.   Applications will be accepted through Friday, June 22, 2018.  Our online application must be completed its entirety. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
 -An Associate’s Degree in business or marine-related field or equivalent job experience, and;

 -Possess and maintain US Coast Guard (USCG) licenses required to teach OUPV, Upgrade to 100 ton, Upgrade to 200 ton and towing assistance courses.

Among the job duties are:
-Lead instructor for USCG approved courses.
-Provide all administrative duties related to classes in the Marine Captains Program.
-Keep abreast of USCG regulations and policies to ensure college courses and testing are in compliance. 
-Prepare all materials related to course recertification by the USCG, and perform internal course audits as mandated by the USCG.
-Create USCG approved course materials such as tests, student workbooks, instructor guides, and presentations.
-Serve as liaison with community marine businesses and organizations to promote program and aid in student job placement.
-Serve as college representative for course and site audits performed by the USCG, including preparing all materials required for such audits, and respond to USCG inquiries regarding audits.
-Maintain all records related to Marine Captains classes in accordance with Carteret Community College and USCG policies.
-Maintain partnership with USCG Ft. Macon to provide onsite Marine Captains classes.
-Develop future Marine Captains Program courses as needed and deemed necessary by industry demand.
-Monitor and maintain necessary equipment and supplies for the Marine Captains Program.
-Recruit and supervise adjunct Marine Captains Program instructors.
