Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Massage Therapist License in the State of North Carolina
  • Currently have or by the date of hire completed 500 hours of documented hands-on experience (excluding internship hours) and 30-hour course for teaching adult learners OR Licensed as a Massage Therapy Instructor in the state of North Carolina
  • At least 2 years of experience as a licensed Massage Therapist in a clinical or Spa setting
  • Must hold current CPR/FA card (either Red Cross or AHA)

Preferred Qualifications

Working in a fast pace Community College environment with Faculty, Staff, Students and Contractors.

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

This is a Part-time position with no benefits    /      20 – 25 hours per week

Under general super vision, Massage Therapy Instructors must be capable to teach assigned massage therapy classes both lecture and demonstration in accordance with NC Board of Massage & Bodywork therapy.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach assigned massage therapy classes both lecture and demonstration in accordance with NC Board of Massage & Bodywork therapy
  • Responsible for providing and sustaining an effective learning environment for every student through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments and fair and holistic assessment of learning
  • Provide clear documentation and feedback on student progress, and support of academic success for all students
  • Follow safe and sanitary practices for students and instructors
  • Teach to all levels of student abilities and adjusting subject matter as required
  • Attend teacher’s meetings and program meetings as scheduled
  • Ability to offer constructive feedback to students to help them improve
  • Ability to be firm in  implementing the policies and procedures in place for the school

OTHER RELEVANT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Instructors must be aware of the institutional passing rate of first time test-takers on licensure and certification exams
  • Strong Instruction and communication skills
  • Ability to track students and keep them engaged
  • Ability to complete paperwork when necessary
