Minimum Qualifications
A Master's degree in Mathematics or a master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; excellent oral and written communication skills; a self-starter, a team player, and the ability to work collaboratively with others are required. The applicant should be able to teach the curriculum and developmental math including statistics. The Applicant is required to be available to teach using traditional methods seated on-campus day or night including local high schools, online, and hybrid classes as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and experience with educational technology, math software, My Lab Math, the TI graphing calculator, and Desmos; teaching and designing math curricula to teach online math courses using Moodle; use of retention practices and student learning outcomes; teaching Pre-Calculus and Statistics is preferred. Experience working with a diverse population including students, parents, faculty, staff, and the general public is preferred. Bilingual is preferred.
Position Description
Instructional duties include teaching day, evening, and online courses in curriculum math. The instructor will be available for a daily office hour and will provide academic support for students. In-person classes will meet on the main campus, at Wayne School of Engineering, and/or at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Duties include submitting reports as required and maintaining student evaluation records as well as participation in curriculum development, revision, implementation, and evaluation. Participate in meetings, orientation, registration, graduation, professional development, and other required special events. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and/or Dean. The position reports directly to the Mathematics Department Chair.
