Minimum Qualifications

An associate degree in Medical Assisting from an accredited institution and a CAAHEP accredited program with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a healthcare facility. Instruction in educational theory and techniques, strongly preferred. Must be credentialed in good standing in Medical Assisting by a nationally accredited credentialing organization or in the process of being credentialed. Effective communication and organizational skills essential.

Position Description

Medical Assisting Instructor – Adjunct Faculty (Day Preferred)

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

  • Direct student learning and assess student progress in achieving the requirements of the program in the appropriate learning domains; track and submit outcomes assessment for courses taught; contribute to the program review; collaborate with clinical site representatives and perform other related work commensurate with faculty status.
  • Must be current and competent in the MAERB Core Curriculum objectives.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and possess an understanding of and commitment to the unique role of the community college.
  • Ability to substitute for day and/or evening instructors at the New Bern campus as deemed necessary as well as teach on-line courses is highly preferred.
  • Attend departmental, center and College meetings and events as feasible.
  • Participate in on-campus professional development activities.
  • Participate in professional development activities in the faculty member’s formally recognized area of expertise.
