Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in field related to area of assignment, and 4-6 years of experience in a higher education environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with: a Bachelor's Degree in education, psychology or a related field; one year's experience in a related field where test administration was a major part of the job description; and demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates with two years' educational experience in standardized test administration; familiarity with adult literacy programs; and community college experience.
Position Description
The qualified candidate for this position will conduct and monitor testing sessions of high school equivalency exams (GED® and HiSET®) and progress testing (TABE and TABE-CLAS E). Training will be provided but must pass examiner test. This position requires a high comfort level with technology, data entry, and trouble-shooting. Selected candidate will be required to become knowledgeable of confidentiality policies, provide clear directions of materials and perform multiple tasks involved with test administration, enforce testing policy and procedures, and promote transitions program opportunities. Other responsibilities include: verification of candidates' eligibility and identity; explaining the rules and regulations prior to examination; maintaining test records, logs, reports and other documentation; preparing test materials before each test administration; conduct inventory and verification of the condition of all restricted testing material; and count test materials at the beginning end of each session. Continued employment in this position will be contingent upon the selected candidate's ability to pass the Pearson Vue GED® Examiner assessment, ETS-HiSET training, and TABE/TABE CLAS-E certifications. This position will also assist and coordinate with transition programs and promote college enrollment.
Excellent attention to detail, customer service, and communication skills required. High School Equivalency Examiners shall receive in-service training before assuming duties as a GED or other High School Equivalency Examiner.
Candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule which may require day, evening, and/or Saturday hours.
