· Associate degree or higher. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC
· A minimum of two (2) years of experience in Human Resources.
· Ability to work in a diverse environment
· High-volume client service and relationship management.
· Strong consultation and influence management skills
· Excellent attention to detail with ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
· Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace, spreadsheets, presentation and collaboration apps and software
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in related area
· 3+ years in Human Resources
· Knowledge of full life-cycle recruitment
· Work experience in a community college
· Experience with Colleague by Ellucian
Position Description
The Human Resources Specialist is a member of a diverse team who serves under a shared services model that supports hiring and benefit functions. Serves as a point of contact for internal and external hires, actively participating in the coordination of the recruitment life-cycle of new candidates from sourcing to onboarding. The specialist also is a primary point of contact for employees and external providers and partners and serves as administrator for health and other benefits, leaves of absence, wellness programs and state service credit.
· Actively recruit and hire talent for part-time and full-time job openings for the College
· Assist Human Resources Department with meeting organizational hiring goals by partnering and consulting with hiring managers to screen, recruit, evaluate and hire top talent
· Identify effective and creative recruitment strategies; advertise open roles on various channels including job boards, professional social networks and the Forsyth Tech Careers page
· Create, maintain and audit employee documents for accuracy and compliance. Process employment forms; partner with various departments for proper completion of necessary documentation
· Maintain recruitment tools, including reviewing and updating interview questions and standard skills assessments; update and develop new recruitment tools as needed
· Participate on and recommend improve processes as it relates to selection committees
· Track key recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill and source of hire
· Reach out to potential candidates and build relationships for future job opportunities
· Review applications and compare against job requirements; interview applicants and analyze responses. Review and compare selected candidates with posting qualifications
· Construct and maintain job descriptions with hiring managers and add them to database. Review job descriptions for necessary updates prior to posting
· Proactively participate in recruiting events, such as job fairs and promote Forsyth Tech as a premiere employer; seek opportunities for Forsyth Tech to gain positive visibility in the community
· Seek ways to improve processes and ways in which to conduct business; make recommendations with the goal to enhance the candidate and hiring manager experience
· Participate in special projects, including projects outside the scope of recruiting but within the Human Resources functions, as needed
· Administer the college’s benefits programs (e.g., open retirement plans, leave policies, wellness programs, insurance policies, etc.)
· Assist employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes
· Process benefit changes, updates and coverage terminations in a timely manner. Also updates address changes in Colleague and with various benefit vendors
· Ensure dependent information is loaded for eligible e employees and that benefit coverage is accurately reflected for 1095 ACA reporting
· Distribute all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility
· Assist with enrolling employees with carriers and processes life status changes
· Monitor government regulations, legislation, and benefits trends; ensures compliance with all government regulations
· Organize the enrollment, renewal, and distribution processes, initiating all necessary job-related communications to both internal and external customers and partners
· Compile and maintain records for use in employee benefits administration
· Provide assistance to HR Technician for all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA. Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges
· Review invoices to ensure proper billing from providers
· Research & coordinate options for enhanced wellness activities and programming for employees
· Manage all necessary job-related communications to both internal and external customers and partners
· Provide a high level of service to customers by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and partnerships
· Assist with special projects as requested including, but not limited to, audit of personnel records, enrollment tracking, length of service reporting benefits and retirement statements
· Attend specialized training activities that enhance job performance and foster diversity, equity and inclusion
· Foster diversity, equity and inclusion with colleagues and students
· Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information
