Minimum Qualifications
BON Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution (will be required to obtain a graduate degree in nursing from an accredited institution within 5 years of initial full-time employment)
- Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse with current American Heart Association Basic Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
- Have at least two calendar years of experience in clinical practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Within the first three years of employment:
- Education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. Once completed, this education need not be repeated if the employing organization is changed.
- This education may be demonstrated by one of the following: (A) completion of 45 contact hours of Board-approved continuing education courses; (B) completion of a certificate program in nursing education; (C) nine semester hours of graduate course work in adult learning and learning principles; (D) national certification in nursing education; or (E) documentation of completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contact hours approved by the Board.
- Criteria for approval shall include content in the faculty role in the curriculum implementation, curricular objectives to be met and evaluated, review of strategies for identified student population, and expectations of student and faculty performance.
- Education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. Once completed, this education need not be repeated if the employing organization is changed.

- Experience in a community college or higher education setting.
- Prior experience in program development and administration is preferred.
- Familiarity with BON regulatory process and requirements.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Position Description
Alamance Community College faculty are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with a minimum of 20-24 on -campus hours Monday through Friday (position may include day and/or evening work hours). In certain program areas and during certain periods, such as advising ad registration, Faculty may work more than the minimum on-campus hours. Focused on student success, Faculty support the colleges mission by facilitating student learning in and outside of the classroom through high-quality instruction, academic support, and informed advising
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including hospitals and professional organizations.
- Supervise and evaluate student progress, providing guidance and support.
- Participate in ongoing program assessment and make improvements as necessary.
- Maintains licensure/certifications and stay current with developments in Nursing and education.
- Providing appropriate and effective instruction.
- Teaching classes per the College’s teaching load and formula in combinations including day, evening, weekend, off-campus and online as the College requires.
- Providing relevant learning opportunities that promote student engagement and retention.
- Creating meaningful assessments and evaluating student work according to departmental standards.
- Maintaining accurate student records, including course attendance to enhance retention and success.
- Being available to students during office or lab hours for assistance.
- Providing regular grade updates through Moodle gradebook
- Providing accurate, informed advising.
- Maintaining accessible office or lab hours.
- Attends faculty and staff meetings; attends graduation.
- Understands College policies and procedures, degree requirements, and transfer agreements.
- Providing students with current information regarding career opportunities, as appropriate.
- Being informed about College services and support for students.
- Manages inventory control including purchasing materials, supplies, equipment and tools
- Recruiting students, including participation in open houses, College events, and recruitment fairs.
- Engaging in continuous improvement efforts.
- Participating in student club activities and events.
- Assisting with accreditation/regulatory reports.
- Assisting with live projects as relevant.
- Serve on College Committees and Nursing Advisory Board
- Performs other duties as assigned that support the College mission and initiatives
Additional Functions:
- Substitutes in class for absent colleagues.
- Tutor students outside class meeting times.
- Maintains the cleanliness of work areas and labs.
- Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
