Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in student services, preferably in recruitment and admissions.

The role of the Outreach Coordinator is to help underserved populations with the recruitment and admissions process for College of The Albemarle (COA). The Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Admissions and Recruitment to plan and attend a variety of recruitment and community events throughout COA's seven-county service area. This will include high school visits, community engagement events, etc. The Outreach Coordinator will also assist in the coordination of campus events focused on providing information to adult learners from underserved populations. The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for assisting adult learners with applying to COA, career counseling, advising and financial aid.

The Outreach Coordinator will report directly to the Director, Admissions and Recruitment.

 

 Examples of Duties:

  • Serve as the primary contact for recruitment initiatives focused on underserved populations such as Black and Hispanic adult leaners.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of college-wide on and off campus programs and events focused on admissions and recruitment of underserved populations such as Black and Hispanic adult learners.
  • Work with incoming students on the understanding and completion of all COA admissions requirements including:
    • Provide entry-level academic and career guidance for students as they select the right program of study. Be fully educated on all COA program offerings to ensure students are directed to the correct application and enrollment process.
    • Educated them on all possible COA funding sources and help them locate the application for those they may qualify.
    • Provide assistance in completing the necessary steps for enrollment including submission of all official transcripts and completion of the online orientation.
  • Be knowledge of all services integrated through the COA admissions processes, including: College Foundation of NC (CFNC), Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Residency Determination Service (RDS), Ellucian, COA MyCourses, COA MyService, Aviso and the NC Community College placement requirements.
  • Collect, understand and provide general information concerning the academic and demographic profiles of students as related to the admissions process.
  • Participate in programs and initiatives that facilitate adult learner student engagement, career development, success and retention.
  • Provide referrals to other campus and community resources when applicable.
  • Empower students to effectively communicate with faculty and student services, become better connected to resources and support services such as financial aid, career services and accessibility services.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of student information unless sharing information is due to a legitimate educational interest pursuant to FERPA and other COA policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
