Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology or related field from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of and experience with interactive whiteboards and pen displays.
  • Knowledge of and experience with document cameras.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Moodle or other learning management systems. 
  • Experience training faculty or staff in a group and individual setting
  • Experience in the design, development, and evaluation of online instruction

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 1 - 3 years’ experience as an instructional technologist or equivalent position.
  • Experience training or teaching in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with SMART software or hardware.
  • Experience using SoftChalk.
  • Familiarity with Digital Accessibility guidelines. 

Position Description

The Instructional Technology Specialist is a part time position responsible for providing training and support to instructional technology users and working collaboratively to improve the quality of instruction.  This position reports directly to the Director, Distance Education and Instructional Technology.  The Instructional Technology Specialist has the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and provide specialized training to faculty and staff on best practices and effective use of instructional technologies with an emphasis on interactive whiteboards and pen displays, document cameras, and learning management systems. 
  • Develop, implement, and assess a support plan for instructional technologies.  Coordinate with vendor services as needed.
  • Research and stay abreast of emerging instructional technologies and instructional design strategies.
  • Collaborate with faculty and other areas on campus to identify instructional technology needs and opportunities for expansion.
  • Assist faculty in course design and effective implementation of instructional technology within the learning environment.
  • Assist in professional development and quality assurance process for online instruction.
  • Assist Coordinator of Distance Education in support and implementation of learning management system.
  • Engage in budgetary responsibilities related to instructional technology.
  • Foster a campus culture that embraces instructional technology and encourages creativity in all delivery methods. 
  • Network with IT and other technology users across campus to maximize source utilization.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, and serve on college committees as appropriate.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned that support the mission and initiatives of the College.

Salary Range: 

$19.00 - $22.25 per hour based on candidate's experience, education, and the state budget
