Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (must be from a regionally accredited institution) in student personnel, higher education, or related field.  
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to create, promote and execute new and existing events and programs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to provide leadership in anticipating and responding to emergencies.
  • Knowledge and experience using integrated software systems Google Docs and Microsoft applications (with proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint presentation).
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to travel out-of-state as well as locally to participate in meetings, conferences, if necessary.
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task and complete independent work assignments.
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in student personnel, higher education, or related field.  
  • Familiarity with Campus Labs Engage/Orgsync.
  • Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college.

Position Description

The Student Life & Evening Campus Support Specialist is a part-time (27 hours or less per week) 10-month position reporting to the Director of Student Life.  The work schedule for this position is 5:00 PM-9:00 PM M-TH and Saturdays 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. The position has the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

    Student Life

  • Create, implement and supervise co-curricular programming for evening students
  • Assist with new student orientations in the evening.
  • Manage the Food Pantry for students in the evening.
  • Serve as Co-advisor for the National Society of Leadership and Success- conduct the evening or weekend meetings, leadership trainings, broadcast events, and serve as the evening contact for students in the program.
  • Regularly survey the evening students to assess their needs.
  • Host Student Life sponsored Evening Coffee Breaks.
  • Supervise the hiring, training and management of the student mascot for evening basketball games and coordinate ticket collection and concessions at evening athletic games.
  • Assist the Student Life staff with various projects.

    Campus Support

  • Provide administrative leadership for the college in the evening to ensure that basic instructional, support services, and facilities function efficiently.
  • Serve as the person in charge of Campus Emergency Procedures during evening hours of operation.
  • Assist evening students with class locations, address questions regarding registration and StormTrac/Moodle concerns, manage faculty room scheduling conflicts, and provide access to buildings and student locations for Campus Resource Officers through Datatel Colleague.
  • Respond to emergencies and the needs of students, faculty/staff and visitors in the evening.
  • Attend College meetings as feasible.
  • Serves on College committees as appropriate.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned that support the mission and initiatives of the Office of Student life and the College.
