  3. Experience with academic advising, preferred
  4. Experience with writing-intensive courses, preferred

Position Description

In support of the overall Learning College, the Psychology Instructor is responsible for providing a quality learning experience for all the College students.  The instructor will teach psychology courses; provide high quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations; perform instructional-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College; the Instructor will also demonstrate a commitment to the Learning College concept, assessment, cooperative learning, and student advising.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Develop and present relevant course content for all courses assigned
  2. Utilize active learning methods, technology, and a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course
  3. Demonstrate a commitment to the Learning College initiative
  4. Post and maintain office hours for student appointments
  5. Be supportive of students’ learning goals
  6. Be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data
  7. Serve as an academic advisor and assist in the registration process
  8. Maintain prompt communication with supervisor
  9. Participate in College committees and/or other college-wide activities as elected or assigned
  10. Perform expectations of a faculty member as stated in the Full Time Faculty Job Description
  11. Other duties as assigned

  1. Understanding and appreciation of the mission, history, current programs, services and goals of Isothermal Community College
  2. Ability to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels
  3. Excellent customer service skills
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be highly organized
  5. Ability to monitor and assess performance of oneself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
  6. Ability to work effectively under pressure and with a minimum of supervision
