Position Description
In support of the overall Learning College, the Psychology Instructor is responsible for providing a quality learning experience for all the College students. The instructor will teach psychology courses; provide high quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations; perform instructional-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College; the Instructor will also demonstrate a commitment to the Learning College concept, assessment, cooperative learning, and student advising.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and present relevant course content for all courses assigned
- Utilize active learning methods, technology, and a variety of instructional strategies designed to assist the learner in meeting the objectives of the course
- Demonstrate a commitment to the Learning College initiative
- Post and maintain office hours for student appointments
- Be supportive of students’ learning goals
- Be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data
- Serve as an academic advisor and assist in the registration process
- Maintain prompt communication with supervisor
- Participate in College committees and/or other college-wide activities as elected or assigned
- Perform expectations of a faculty member as stated in the Full Time Faculty Job Description
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities
- Understanding and appreciation of the mission, history, current programs, services and goals of Isothermal Community College
- Ability to work effectively with individuals at all organizational levels
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be highly organized
- Ability to monitor and assess performance of oneself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and with a minimum of supervision
