Minimum Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Psychology or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Psychology and proficiency with computer software programs are required. The Psychology Instructor must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with others. 

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of teaching experience and teaching experience at the post-secondary level are preferred. Experience teaching via distance education and with Moodle or another learning management systems is preferred. The ability to teach courses in one or more additional disciplines in the department is preferred.  Other departmental disciplines include anthropology, art, drama, economics, geography, health, history, humanities, music, physical education, political science, psychology, religion, and sociology. Experience working with a diverse student, parent, faculty, staff, and general public population, and bilingual are preferred.

Position Description

The primary responsibility of the Psychology Instructor is to provide instruction for classes such as General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Abnormal Psychology and will be responsible for course planning, including the development and evaluation of these courses and their assignments. The instructor will serve as an academic advisor and teach the College Transfer Student Success course as needed and will serve on college committees and participate in college activities such as meetings, professional development opportunities, orientations, and graduations. The instructor will be responsible for maintaining and submitting a variety of academic reports and ensuring accurate and timely recordkeeping. This position will require teaching on-campus, off-campus, and online classes during the day, evening, and/or on weekends and will require other duties to be completed as assigned by the Department Chair and the Dean.
