Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education/Training:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Minimum Experience:

3 (three) years of relevant work and management experience in multi-family housing

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:

    One or more years of experience in an instructional setting as a tutor or teacher are preferred

    Experience in using online learning platforms

    Associate’s Degree in a relevant field of study (including business management, communication studies, etc.)

    Position Description

    DEFINITION:

    To provide classroom instruction and professional development training to clients through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing. Topics will vary according to clients’ requests, including but not limited to marketing & communication strategies, leadership, succession planning, team building, management skills, occupancy/turnover/leasing analysis, legal and regulatory requirements, physical asset management, financial analysis, performance evaluation, etc. 

     

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

    • Receives technical direction/general supervision from Workforce Readiness Coordinator
    • Receives general supervision from the Workforce Readiness Director
    • Exercises no right supervision

     

    Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

     

    ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTION STATEMENT:

    Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

     

    • Provide classroom and laboratory instruction
    • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities; develop, and prepare supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessons
    • Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores
    • Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate
    • Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and change; attend faculty meetings as required.
    • Work the number of hours scheduled by the Workforce Development Department
    • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, and performance; maintain other records and databases according to program needs or accreditation requirements.
    • Stay abreast of new developments, and changes in various academic fields; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education programs as appropriate
    • Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area

     

    Other Important Functions:

    • Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate 
    • Select various text books to be used for future classes
    • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

     

    Qualifications

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Knowledge of: 

    • Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures
    • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment
    • Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment
    • Principles and procedures of record keeping
    • Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration
    • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations

    Ability to: 

    • Interpret and apply college goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations
    • Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations
    • Communicate clearly, and concisely, both orally and in writing
    • Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
       
    • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
      Making observations
      Reading and writing
      Communicating with others
      Operating assigned equipment
      Handling varied tasks simultaneously  
       
    • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
      Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
      Operating assigned equipment
      Preparing and presenting instructional material.
      Bending, stooping, climbing or lifting up to 50 pounds

      Demonstrating intellectual capabilities

      EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES
      Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

    SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS:
     

    • This is a part-time teaching position.  Hours vary (anywhere from 3 - 20 hours per week); day and evening classes dependent on enrollment.  

     

    • This position REQUIRES UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS AND/OR TRAINING CERTIFICATIONS be submitted in addition to the application. Please have these documents ready to upload when applying.

     

    • Candidates are required to submit OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS for all degrees obtained prior to their first day of work or hire date. If highest level of education is High School diploma or equivalent, proof of completion is required.

     

    • Candidates who have obtained their education outside of the US and its territories must have their academic degree(s) validated, at their own expense, by an outside credential evaluation service as equivalent to the Baccalaureate or Master's degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States.
