Minimum Qualifications

Required Education/Experience:

  • Associate Degree in related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years’ experience in an office setting, purchasing, or customer service

 

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience using Google Workspace and Microsoft Office with ability to quickly learn other computer programs as necessary
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service to internal and external customers
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to comfortably work as part of a team, but also able to work autonomously
  • Ability to climb ladder, work in tight spaces, and lift 45 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Experience with Etrieve, NC eProcurement, or Colleague

The Purchasing Technician performs a variety of technical duties in support of the purchasing department.

Essential Duties

 

  • Assist VP, Purchasing Director, and Staff Attorney with administrative needs
  • Type, proofread, and process documents including general correspondence, reports, and memos
  • Facilitate ordering process for nametags
  • Issue and track room keys for LMC
  • Process Etrieve requisitions for supplies and equipment, enter purchase requisitions into eProcurement, and create purchase orders in Colleague
  • Support end users in the requisition process, conduct market research and monitor purchasing process to ensure College's compliance with the State’s purchasing requirements
  • Update purchase orders in Colleague to enable receiving and payment of invoices
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with College employees and Vendors, including assistance to end users with resolving disputes with vendors
  • Maintain equipment database
  • Physical equipment inventory; yearly tracking and reporting of inventory results
  • Enter transfers on the NC Surplus site to transfer assets for public sale
  • Complete vehicle title/registration applications and maintain vehicle files
  • Facilitate the ordering process for employee and student nametags
  • Serve as back-up administrator for College systems as needed
  • Serve on College committees as assigned
  • Complete the annual five-hour staff development
  • Submit records and forms in a timely fashion as required in the policy and procedures manual
  • Encourage and support college activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies
  • Actively participate in professional organizations
  • Assume other duties as requested by the supervisor and the college
