Minimum Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree, preferably in Respiratory Therapy, education, or administration. Active and unencumbered NC Respiratory Therapy License required.
Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least 3 years full-time experience in respiratory therapy, of which at least 2 shall be experience as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor for a respiratory therapy program accredited by CAAHEP.
Communication, both oral and written, and computer skills necessary. Must have expert efficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher preferred.
Teaching experience at a community college or four-year university.
Experience with Blackboard Learn™ or other learning management system.
Online teaching experience.
Position Description
Provide quality instruction for classroom, lab, and clinical courses both online and in a traditional setting.
Teach face-to-face, online, and blended courses to include days, evenings, and weekends both on and off campus as needed by the department.
Incorporate latest instructional technologies in course delivery and utilize interactive learning technologies to engage students in the teaching and learning process.
Participate in student recruitment efforts and advisement for increased enrollment and retention.
Assist in the design and update of course syllabi, outlines, lesson plans, curriculum review, revision, and development.
Provide input on program review, assessment, and other departmental activities.
Periodically evaluate and develop new courses. Revise and update existing courses for relevancy and currency consistent with the role and mission of the College.
Evaluate classroom and practical instruction and make necessary improvements.
Maintain face-to-face and/or online classroom environments conducive to student learning, engagement, and retention.
Maintain accurate scholastic and membership records of students enrolled in classes and prepare and submit reports as required.
Compile and process reports, forms, and documents.
Complete all instructional responsibilities, as explained in the job description for instructional faculty.
Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
Develop and maintain community relationships that support the mission of the College and the program.
Continually develop and improve skills through professional development in education and in Respiratory Therapy.
Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned.
