Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Three or more years of networking and computer support or related experience
• Thorough knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies
• Ability to design, set up and configure wired and wireless networks that support open and secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications
• Thorough knowledge and working understanding of routing protocols static and dynamic
• Thorough knowledge and working understanding of TCP/IP, IP addressing, CIDR, Subnetting, VLSM, and Network Address Translation (NAT)
• Thorough knowledge and a working understanding of networking numbering systems, Binary, Decimal, and Hexadecimal
• Ability to design, set up and configure network switching and routing environments, for example trunking, VLAN, Inter VLAN routing, default routes, Policy Based Routing (PBR), STP, HSRP, VSS
• Knowledge of data center operations and best practices
• Ability to work independently and with teams
• A customer oriented attitude and desire to help others succeed
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
• A demonstrated positive and proactive approach in identifying problems, creating innovative solutions
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Technology or related field
• CCNP or CCNA certifications
• Experience with Cisco Nexus Switching and NX-OS
• 802.1x protocol support and configuration experience
• Cisco ASA, ISE, Web Security Appliance, and Firepower experience
• Call Manager and Cisco Unity Experience
• Wireless Lan Controller Experience
• Experience in maintaining network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls
• Visio network diagramming experience
• Unified Computing System (UCS) experience
• VMWare and Storage Area Network experience
• Experience in an educational environment
• Detail-oriented and ability to multi-task

Position Description
Job Description
The Senior Network Administrator is a full-time, 12-month position which will be located on the OCH Campus in Monroe, NC, but will involve travel between all SPCC locations. Under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Information Technology Services and CIO, Information Technology Services, the Senior Network Administrator supports and maintains network systems in the organization by providing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and resolution of hardware, software, and communications issues as well as develops new system designs. In addition, this position maintains data centers and data wire closets across all locations.
Job Duties
Essential Job Duties
• Supports data and voice network systems at all locations within the college including communications equipment, cabling, and related infrastructure
• Assembles LAN/WAN equipment on computer systems according to established design specifications
• Performs monitoring of network systems to ensure they are available for college business in accordance with Service Level Agreements
• Troubleshoots and provides remedies to network problems for internal and remote users
• Recommends and installs upgrades and new applications and equipment
• Completes installation and swap-out of network hardware including routers, switches and other communication gear
• Documents and maintains system configurations for disaster recovery
• Maintains data centers and data wiring closets using best practices and in a professional manner
• Will be required to work outside of Normal Business hours, primarily in the event of an emergency or implementation of new systems/upgrades which will need to be done after hours
• On-call support that may involve night or weekend coverage as assigned
• May perform other duties as required
Analytical Skills:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

• Demonstrated flexibility to changing priorities
Technical Skills:
• Working knowledge of Cisco routing, switching and VoIP
• Working knowledge of Cisco Call Manager, Unity Voicemail and Presence
• Working knowledge of Cisco ASA firewalls
• Working knowledge of the following routing protocols: EIGRP, OSPF & BGP
• Working knowledge of structured cable systems including Category 5e/6 and Single-mode and Multi-mode fiber
