An associate’s degree is required with two years of warehouse or delivery experience. This position requires knowledge of Microsoft Office; modern ware-housing and inventory procedures; laws and standard operating procedures regarding the processing of U. S. mail and inter-department mail; basic principles of record keeping, accounting, and math skills. Applicants must demonstrate organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time and able to bend, lift, or carry up to 20 pounds and work outside in extreme weather conditions. Must have a valid North Carolina Driver’s License and driving record which allows the applicant to be insurable under Wayne Community College’s auto insurance policy. A forklift certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire is required.
Experience processing various classes of USPS mail is preferred. A National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual is preferred.
Receive, stock, and issue materials and supplies; verify incoming shipments for appropriate quantity and quality. Inventory supplies and materials; report replacement needs; assist in annual inventory. Pick up the mail from the post office; sort and deliver mail to various college departments in a timely manner; collect and deliver inter-office mail; prepare outgoing mail with appropriate postage; prepare and package items for outgoing shipments. Maintain files; compile records of supply transactions; input and retrieve data from various systems such as Colleague and Softdocs. Deliver incoming materials, supplies and equipment to appropriate college departments on campus and off, such as Wayne County Airport and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Retrieve appropriate safety data sheets as necessary. Operate various equipment including but not limited to a forklift, postage machine, bar code scanner, computer, and various other office machines.
