Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance and five or more years of successful business experience in an ownership or executive management capacity or an advanced degree in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Law are required. Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license with a driving record that is insurable under the Wayne Community College auto policy.
Preferred Qualifications
A National Career Readiness Certification and bilingual are preferred.
Position Description
The Director of the Small Business Center is responsible for the organization, planning, implementation, and supervision of small business program services and resources. The Director provides counseling, education, and training to small business owners and prospective entrepreneurs. Duties include promoting and marketing the Small Business Center, administering an intensive schedule of entrepreneurial seminar programming, maintaining an accessible resource library for client use, and providing technical business training in a confidential and professional manner. The Director also supervises contract instructors, and administrative support staff, and is responsible for maintaining an advisory board consisting of members of the business community. This position requires day, evening, and weekend hours as required to administer programming and will require some travel in the area. The Director will perform all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the Wayne Business and Industry Center and will work in cooperation with Wayne Community College’s internal staff and external partners in the economic development of the community.
