Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Cosmetology, or related field from an accredited institution. Cosmetology Diploma, current license as Cosmetologist and Cosmetology Instructor issued by North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Arts required.
  • At least three years of teaching experience at the College level – community college experience preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in managing a business providing service in cosmetic arts.
  • Must be a superb, student-oriented teacher and communicator with the ability to work with adults with a variety of academic abilities and backgrounds.
  • Must be committed to the delivery of instruction in cosmetology using a variety of technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least three years of teaching experience at the College level – community college experience preferred.

Position Description

Major Duties:

  • Serve as faculty advisor to students in cosmetology, esthetics, therapeutic massage, high school programs and continuing education.
  • Lead by teaching and by actively participating in student recruitment activities and in encouraging departmental faculty to so. 
  • Coordinate functions for on-campus spa facility in cosmetology, esthetics, manicuring/nail technology and therapeutic massage.
  • Plan, organize, and develop each course taught in accordance with the acceptable academic standards and teach assigned courses in accordance with the approved curriculum and course outlines.
  • Maintain up-to-date course outlines and objectives for each course to be taught and assist with the development of new courses and revisions of existing courses.
  • Participate in the continuous program of curriculum evaluation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Instructional Services.
