Minimum Qualifications

Masters in Counseling, Social Work, Education or related degree required. Ability to nurture and build a rapport with students and engage them in SSS and College-related activities. Ability to work effectively with colleagues and students and practice punctuality, respect for deadlines and honest communication. Proficiency in the use of information technology, including web browsers, word processors, e-mail, spreadsheets and databases. Must be a self-starter and possess excellent time management skills. Ability to maintain proficiency as needed and approved by attending trainings, reading and interpreting job-related materials. Must possess a passion for working with students in the community college setting who have overcome various barriers. This position is grant funded for a five-year period.

Position Description

Assist Director in the planning and overall coordination of the Student Support Services work plan; serves as a liaison between SSS, faculty and staff; recruits and advises a diverse population of students; plans and coordinates retention activities to include advising, student success workshops, college transfer programming and program marketing to the campus community; advise and assist students in registering for classes and interprets test scores for placement in courses; maintain records, student data, and other documents related to the advising caseload; completes weekly, monthly and annual reports; maintains up-to-date knowledge of TRIO and institutional policies, procedures and programs; work evenings and weekends as needed for SSS and College-related activities. Other duties as assigned.
