Minimum Qualifications

  • An associate degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Record-keeping and reporting experience experience in a higher education
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite is imperative
  • Confidentiality is imperative; must adhere to and educate others regarding FERPA regulations
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Experience in a financial aid setting
  • Experience with the administration of Veterans benefits is desired
  • Knowledge of Datatel Colleague and Informer Web Reporting
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a financial aid office

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

This position is responsible for the timely downloading and processing of student financial aid applications (federal and state aid, Brunswick Guarantee and other scholarship programs), the electronic archiving of related records, and automated communications from the Office of Student Financial Resources. The Student Financial Resources Data & Records Specialist also assists parents and students in navigating the financial aid process to include applying for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), helping students/parents complete and submit required financial aid application documents.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Understands and applies current federal, state, and college policies and procedures
  • Monitors and executes the download of applications, awards, and funds for both federal and state aid programs
  • Assists parents and students in navigating the financial aid process, providing needed documents, helping students complete and submit required documentation to process their financial aid application
  • Reviews documentation, processes financial aid applications to award benefits
  • Enters student data into the College’s accurately
  • Coordinates the calculation and certification of the College’s Satisfactory Academic Progress process for all aid recipients on a semester-by-semester basis
  • Maintains students’ financial aid records within the College’s data managements system for federal, state, Brunswick Guarantee and other scholarship program  
  • Maintains student financial aid hardcopy and digital data including record archives
  • Sends automated communications on behalf of the office to provide student with timely information
  • Responds to student inquiries in-person, by telephone, email, as needed
  • Serves as liaison to professional staff at other institutions participating in consortium agreements with the College
  • Additional duties as required by the Director of Student Financial Resources
