Associates Degree, required

Bachelors in theatre production, preferred

Five to ten years’ experience in technical field, preferred

Position Description

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and execute all technical requirements of the auditorium and conference rooms.  Assess technical requirements through the review of client contracts and contract riders, and by participating in production meetings
  2. Maintain all production equipment including, but not limited to, that associated with sound, lights, audiovisual, rigging, and specialized operations.  Maintain stage and all preparatory areas for highest operational and presentational function
  3. Prepare and execute basic lighting and sound design.  Act as head sound engineer for facility produced music events in auditorium.  Operate lighting and audiovisual equipment as needed
  4. Produce and maintain an up-to-date technical specification package to include equipment lists, drawings, line schedules, and rules governing the use of the technical facility
  5. Provide training and supervision of technical crew members in the safe operation of house equipment, and schedule additional crews as needed.  Maintain timesheets for all contracted technical labor
  6. Provide specifications for technical equipment to be purchased, and execute bid process as outlined by purchasing office
  7. Execute purchase requisitions as needed, and follow through on Purchase Orders through closeout
  8. Assist the Director in managing facility sponsored and rental events, preparing yearly budgets, inventory management, marketing and advertising, and facility sales
  9. Act as on-site manager, which includes making decisions, in the absence of the Director and Assistant to the Director
  10. Maintain electronic message board (Marquee) and update as required
  11. Perform special duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director

 

 

Skills and Abilities

  1. Develop an understanding and appreciation of the mission, history, current programs, services and goals of Isothermal Community College
  2. Must possess knowledge of current trends in sound reinforcement, staging, lighting and other audiovisual equipment including data projectors, monitors and cameras, and the maintenance of technical production equipment
  3. Must be able to read blue line prints of the facility and of light, sound, and staging production drawings
  4. Must have ability to design and coordinate lighting and sound designs
  5. Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, WYSIWYG drafting software, the Marquee application software, and the ability to learn and apply new software applications
  6. Ability to train, manage, and direct others to achieve maximum efficiency
  7. Willingness to work as a part of a team
  8. The ability to establish and maintain a courteous rapport with facility users, the community, visitors, volunteers and co-workers
  9. Must have a valid driver’s license
