Position Description

Job Summary:
The Vice President for Learning serves as the College’s Chief Academic Officer and is responsible for academic programs, institutional effectiveness, institutional and program accreditation acting as liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on the Colleges, library/LRC services, Distance Learning, Early College Programs and Secondary and Postsecondary Programs. The Vice-President for Learning serves as a member of the President’s senior leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides direction and leadership for all instruction programs
• Works collaboratively with the Division of Continuing Education to assure that curriculum and workforce development programming are aligned
• Develops Workforce Development apprenticeships, internship, and other workplace-based learning programs in support of students and local industry
• Provides leadership in strategic planning for the division, budget development, and the creation and assessment of institutional effectiveness measures in all assigned areas and programs
• Identifies funding sources (i.e., grants and contracts), and coordinates program delivery, and resource development
• Provides leadership in long-and short-range planning and program development
• Commits to collaborating with faculty on creating and implementing credit and noncredit blended course designs
• Assures instructional personnel adhere to College policies and procedures
• Provides leadership in faculty evaluation and development
• Provides leadership in articulation with four-year institutions and with the local school systems
• Oversees the program review and quality of each of the academic programs
• Provides leadership in the coordinating/planning of academic computing in cooperation with the Chief Information Technology Officer
• Recommends to the President the selection and assignment of full-and part-time instructional personnel
• Maintains a positive, productive profile within the region, including educational institutions business partners and others
• Coordinates budget, personnel, and policy matters with Vice President for Finance and Administration
• Actively contributes to a work environment that embraces inclusiveness, racial and gender equity, and diverse perspectives

• Performs other duties and tasks assigned by the President
