Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Marketing, Human Resources or related field from a regionally accredited college or university

 

Minimum Experience

  • Experience in establishing, marketing, and coordinating educational course offerings/ training and development programs. 
  • Must hold a valid North Carolina Driver’s License and have a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:

  • Three years’ experience in establishing, marketing, and coordinating educational course offerings in a community college setting
  • At least one to three year of sales/business development experience strongly preferred
  • Ellucian/Colleague experience is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience teaching or facilitating hybrid and/or online classes

Position Description

 

DEFINITION:To develop, market, implement, and coordinate courses that meet regional employment needs targeting technology, healthcare, skilled trades and other emerging industry; to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Workforce Training/Development.
 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

  • Receives administrative supervision from the Director, Workforce Development/Training
  • Supervises designated administrative technician (s) and part time instructors.

 

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and market occupational extension and self -supporting courses.  Prepare course offerings each semester. 
  • Administer and supervise high quality workforce training (WFT)classes to meet the needs of regional employers in the fields of technology, healthcare, skilled trades and others as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the public, students, faculty and staff.
  • Analyze current employment trends to ensure current and future WFT offerings meet employment demand and provide sustaining wages.
  • Coordinate employer advisory committee to be responsive to employment demands.
  • Participate in grant writing opportunities.
  • Be informed and updated on the requirements for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for a wide variety of professions such as IT professionals, counselors, accountants, cosmetologists, insurance and real estate agents and others
  • Coordinate with professional accrediting boards for approvals and recognition of CEUs and PDHs provided by Economic & Workforce Development
  • Evaluate course effectiveness through student evaluations and employer feedback
  • Collect and submit registration forms, registration fees, class rosters, attendance sheets and paysheets
  • Comply with all record auditing procedures
  • Travel both locally and statewide as needed

Other Important Functions:

  • Create a variety of regular and confidential documents including general correspondence, agendas, reports, class schedules, training proposals, forms, certificates, contracts, and memos; prepare copies of documents; distribute information most effectively and efficiently.
  • Create, monitor and maintain training proposals and related budgets for business & industry clients
  • Perform data entry functions as necessary.
  • Manage small budgets and order supplies/materials.
  • Assess material, supply and equipment needs for the programs and submit requisitions for the ordering of supplies and equipment to maintain an inventory.
  • Assist and participate in the preparation and development of class materials.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities for improving department standard operating procedures, service delivery, guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain files for compliance with auditor’s demands.
  • Develop and maintain a working and professional relationship with area employers, students, partnering agencies, college staff and the general public.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
